Our Background

AML has established itself as a leading manganese integrated supplier through mining of Manganese Ore in South Africa, smelting of Ferroalloy in Malaysia, and trading of various minerals and metals products derived from these operations.

As the importance of resolving international environmental issues and global frameworks grows, demand for resources, particularly manganese resources and manganese-related products, is expected to increase as a raw material for high-quality steel and as a raw material for lithium batteries.

Now, “Manganese” has been designated as a critical or strategic mineral by many countries in the World such as Japan, South Korea, the United States, Canada, the European Union and so forth.

AML Holdings (President : Shuzaburo Tsuchihashi) was established in Japan in 2024 and consolidated the major assets of the group in 2025 to further expand our manganese resource interests and solidify our supply of high-value-added manganese products.

Our History

In 1993, Asia Minerals Limited (“AML”) was incorporated in Hong Kong by the founder, Hirotaka Suzuki.
Our journey starts with the global trade of Manganese Ore and Ferroalloys during which we became the Exclusive Agents of major Manganese Ore suppliers such as BHP Australia, Ghana Manganese Co. Ltd, Assmang Limited (South Africa) and so forth.

In early 2000s, AML developed monumental steps not only as a trader but also as a Supplier, by acquiring our first Manganese smelting plant in Inner Mongolia, China, named “IMA Resources Ltd in 2004 and majority stakes in “Nichiden Jinzhou,” a Manganese smelting plant in Liaoning province, China, forming “AML Jinzhou Resources Co., Ltd. in 2009.
In 2011, our ambitions grew. AML commenced a new project to establish a greenfield ferroalloy smelting plant in Sarawak State, Malaysia, by forming partnerships with NIPPON DENKO CO., LTD (NIPPON STEEL GROUP) and SHINSHO CORPORATION (KOBE STEEL GROUP), which opened doors to new possibilities.
In 2016, Pertama Ferroalloys achieved the first tapping of Ferro Silicon and Silicon Manganese.

During this time, in South Africa, AML’s first manganese ore assets, Kudumane Manganese Resources (“KMR”), started its journey together with NIPPON DENKO CO.,LTD and our South African partners. The first shipment of Manganese Ore from KMR set sail in April 2013 and since then, AML has been committed to serving our customers and the global industry with highest level of service, quality and reliability.

With these two major projects in South Africa and Malaysia, AML commenced its journey of new opportunities as the “Globally preferred Integrated Manganese Supplier”.

In 2024, we established AML Holdings in Japan.
